Three theme blocks, no theme code: placing review stars and lists in Shopify's editor

Review apps that "just add a snippet" are editing your theme. AgentReady Reviews does not. You opt into three blocks, you can remove them, and theme.liquid stays yours.

Placement is in getting started. Every setting and default is in storefront blocks, including a preview of the same controls.

The three blocks

Product review stars on the product template. Product review list on the product template. All store reviews on a page or the index.

Deep links look like Shopify's usual app-block URLs, using the shipping extension uid:

admin/themes/current/editor?template=product&addAppBlockId=bbda2702-cc0b-f39b-f242-00dc64cddf585703e6c8/product-stars&target=mainSection

The other handles are product-reviews and site-reviews. Placement steps are in getting started.

What you can style

Accent, icon, appearance, surface, star size, card corners, content toggles, default sort, shopper sort and filter, Show more, and a Write a review link on the product list. That is the set the theme editor actually ships for these blocks. The table is in storefront blocks.

Stars on collection templates are not in this release. Do not look for a collection block in the public docs.

First paint

Liquid reads the metafield. If you disable JavaScript, the initial reviews remain. Show more without a script on first paint is the continuation story.

AgentReady Reviews is the product page. Reviews AI agents can actually read is why the Liquid path exists.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to edit theme code to show AgentReady Reviews?
No. You add three app blocks in the theme editor: Product review stars, Product review list, and All store reviews.
What settings can I change?
The list of settings is the theme-editor schema: content, style, and behaviour, including sort, filter, Show more, and a Write a review link on the product list. Defaults are in the storefront blocks doc.
Will the blocks inject JavaScript on first paint?
No. The first page of reviews renders from a metafield snapshot in Liquid. Later pages can load through a signed endpoint on your domain.
Is there a storefront form in the blocks?
Yes. The product list can show a Write a review link to a form on your store's own domain. New reviews arrive unverified and pending.
